Heat Pump Installation
Project Overview
When we arrived at this Casa Grande property, the existing rooftop HVAC package unit had reached the point where replacement was the best long-term solution. After evaluating the system, we removed and disposed of the old unit before preparing the roof for the installation of a new Goodman 3.5 Ton 13.4 SEER2 Heat Pump Package Unit (Model GPHM34231) using R-32 refrigerant.
Because the equipment was installed on the roof, the replacement required careful coordination. Once the old unit was removed, the new package unit was safely lifted into position with a crane and secured before we completed the electrical, refrigerant, and duct connections. After everything was connected, we started the system, verified its operation, and checked that it was heating and cooling as intended before completing the installation.
The project included all labor and materials needed for the replacement, giving the customer a new rooftop HVAC system backed by a 10-year parts warranty, 2-year labor warranty, and a 1-year Energy Savings Agreement.
Equipment & Tools Used
The Tools We Used For a Smooth HVAC Installation Process

Goodman 3.5 Ton 13.4 SEER2 Heat Pump Package Unit (Model GPHM34231) –
The new all-in-one rooftop heat pump package unit installed as part of this project. It provides both heating and cooling from a single cabinet, making it well suited for residential and light commercial applications.

R-32 Refrigerant –
This system uses R-32 refrigerant, which is designed to provide efficient performance while replacing older refrigerants used in previous generations of HVAC equipment.

Crane –
Used to safely remove the existing rooftop package unit and lift the new Goodman unit into place. A crane allows heavy rooftop equipment to be positioned accurately while reducing unnecessary handling during installation.

HVAC Gauges –
Used during startup and commissioning to measure refrigerant pressures and verify the system was operating within the manufacturer’s specifications before the installation was completed.
Our Professionals
Meet the Installation Team
This installation was completed by Chris Eaton and Jacob Scott. Together, they handled the removal of the existing rooftop system, coordinated the crane lift, installed the new Goodman package unit, completed the system connections, and performed startup testing before the project was finished.

Our Process
Lifting and Positioning the New Rooftop Unit
Replacing a rooftop package unit requires more than simply swapping equipment. We coordinated the delivery and crane lift so the new Goodman unit could be safely positioned on the roof without unnecessary handling or risk of damage. Once the unit was set in place, we aligned it with the existing curb, secured it, and completed the necessary mechanical and electrical connections before moving on to system testing.
Using a crane allows rooftop equipment to be placed accurately while reducing the amount of manual handling required during installation. Proper placement is one of the first steps toward ensuring the system operates as designed.
